It aims to develop competent and socially responsible professionals with strong skills in using and managing technology to enhance business processes, support e-commerce, improve decision-making, and gain a competitive edge in the global market.

Program Summary & Structure

The BBIS program is a four-year, eight-semester academic course combining business and information management. It consists of 141 credit hours, with each subject typically worth 3 credits. The curriculum includes 27 credits in foundation courses, 54–60 credits in core management, 54–60 credits in information systems, a 3-credit elective, and a research project in the final semester worth 3 credits, though the overall project work carries a total weight of 9 credits.


Program Objectives

The main objective of the BBIS Program is to prepare students to become competent, skilled, confident and socially responsible management professionals with sound knowledge, skills, and abilities in information systems. More specifically, the program aims to:

  • Develop a habit of critical and creative thinking in students.
  • Develop analytical and problem-solving abilities in students.
  • Improve communication and presentation skills of students.
  • Familiarize students with contemporary concepts, tools and techniques of management.
  • Deepen the knowledge and sharpen the expertise of students in the functional area of information systems.
  • Prepare students to be sensible and responsive citizens with a high degree of professionalism, social and ethical values.
  • Prepare students for higher studies (Masters’ level programs) in the area of management and information systems.

Expected Output

After successful completion of the four-year program, a BBIS graduate is expected to be one or all of the following:

  • A suitable candidate with a sound academic background, competence, confidence, skills, attitude and motivation for further study in the areas of management, information systems and other similar programs.
  • Be an entrepreneur, who can startup a business relating to information systems and information technology, and manage it in today’s competitive business environment.
  • A professional who will be able to successfully work in the IT/IS function at an entrylevel of corporate houses and other social organizations with required knowledge, competence, confidence, skills, and responsibility.

Semester-wise Course Offerings – BBIS

The BBIS program spans four years and eight semesters, totaling 141 credit hours, and is designed to build strong foundational and managerial skills with real-world application.

  • Year I: focuses on building a strong academic foundation through subjects such as English I and II, Mathematics I and II, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting I and II, and Business Management.
  • Year II: Shifts toward more specialized core business and IT disciplines. Students enhance their analytical and managerial skills through courses like Fundamentals of Marketing, Applied Business Statistics, Organizational Behavior, Managerial Finance I and II, and Management Information Systems.
  • Year III: Introduces advanced topics and specialization tracks that allow students to tailor their studies toward their career interests. Courses such as Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Cloud Computing, IS Audit and Control, and Legal and Ethical Issues in IT prepare students for more complex business and technological challenges.
  • Year IV: Focuses on developing strategic thinking and applied research capabilities. Students undertake Strategic Management and Software Engineering while also engaging in Project Work III, which involves a significant capstone project.
  • Internship: A mandatory 6–10 week internship during the final semester provides industry exposure and practical experience.
  • Specializations Available: Finance, Marketing, Accounting, and Management Information Systems. Students choose 4 courses (12 credits) within one area.
  • Electives: 3 additional courses (9 credits) from outside their specialization to broaden perspectives.
